Be it for fun, or rivalry, Fighting is a natual part of Roleplaying, something we encourage here at Blackwood. That does not mean we want people to go around killing everyone they see, but we want there to be confrontation to help spice up the Roleplaying. But there will indeed be people who don't know how to fight, and here, we will teach them how to do this.
~~The Basics~~
Well simply put, fighting is not at all different from regular RPing, its two or more people roleplaying out attacks and defences on their parts. There are no long explinations for fighting, because fighting is just RPing. Thats it.
Fighting works as follows: One person posts an attack, another person posts a reaction to it, first person posts a reaction to that, And it just goes on untill one person Flee's, gives up, dies or Time is up (If there is any)
There is somewhat of a posting order. Each one will be explained in detail here
~Beginning Post or Entery Post~
This post is usually the longest in the entire fight, discribing the players armor, weapons, how they are standing, thoughts, the like. These posts usually require you to name off all weapons carried, all armors and abilities.
~Attack Posts~
These posts discribe your characters attacks, be they with a Knife, Sword, Dagger, Axe, Shield, Fist, or even magical attacks. Attack Posts are the Heart of a battle, because without attacking, what are we left with?
~Defensive Posts~
Defensive Posts are those that tell readers how your character dodges a sword, or counters a magical attack, How they defend simply. But there is more to Defence then just Running and Blocking.
~Counter-attacks~
A Counter-Attack is a post stating using your opponents last move against them. Lets say you are fighting a knight with a giant sword, while you are a fencer with a lighter Rapier. Now assume he slashes horizontally at you, a counter attack would be to use your sword to change the direction of your opponents attack, forcing their back to you, and attacking on your own. simply a Counter Attack is a Defending move that will also launch an attack against your opponent.
~Other Posts~
There are other posts out there, Such as Moving, Withdrawing weapons, Speaking, charging an attack. Anything that doesn't fall under any of the thre previous catigories.
Fights generally look like this:
PlayerA stands in an open field, wearing a black suit of leather, and holding a small knife. (Beginning Post)
PlayerB jumps out of a tree, and runs at PlayerA from behind, holding a large sword, and wearing long black robes (Beginning/Other post)
PlayerA Turns around and flings his knife at PlayerB, pulling a large axe off his back (Attack/Other)
PlayerB Grabs the knife flying at him in one hand, and spins with it, flinging it back at PlayerA while jumping and slashing Downwards at him (Counter Attack/Attack)
PlayerA Rolls to the side, the knife sailing past him, and the sword thudding into the ground, swinging his axe where PlayerB would land (Defence/Attack)
Then it goes on and on untill one of them is dead, gives up, leaves or Time runs out.
Fights can be more detailed then that, but remember, some people will judge the power of your attack by the quality of your posts. There are some other things to consider as well, Such as:
1. There May be one or more judges, so don't be offended if they ask you to explain a post, or call an attack a Mode. They are judges for a reason.
2. You can't dodge everything all the time, play fairly.
3. If a combatant is to leave the arena, they have 10 minutes to return. If they fail to return then they will be considered automaticly dead. However if there is a good reason for the sudden dissiperiance (Storm, Family Emergancy, Big things) Then the fight will either be logged, and resumed from the last persons post, or it shall be redone. In the case that the fight is redone, anything learned during the course of that particular fight is voided, and no longer known.
